Maxwell did it again!

I had planned to write today about how much Maxwell LOVES Guitar Hero.

(he looks so innocent...)

But something else came up. I got a picture message from Matt today while I was at P's school.

Max found a marker. A permanent marker. (Does this sound familiar to anyone else?) Now, he must have learned that we don't color on walls, floors or cabinets last time. We've been really good at keeping all marking items out of his hands unless he's at the table. All our pens and such are kept up on the counter now where he can't reach.

But while Matt was washing dishes, he realized that Max was being too quiet. That's a VERY good sign in our house that he's up to something. Sure enough, he was very much up to "something". He found a blue marker.
And found the dog.

Now the amazing part of this is that he got barely any on himself. Secondly, the dog stayed still for it!!! Even rolling over or moving because she has his "artwork" on both sides of her.

So...does anyone know how to get permanent marker off a dog?!?!?!?!

(feel free to share this story with your friends. and laugh at my dog's expense.)

I just want you to know that I just peed a little. I feel for you, but I CANNOT help but laugh and laugh hard. You have a budding Picasso on your hands.

ROFL!!!

Oh just leave it on the dog, I'm sure it can't hurt it.

That's some funny $hit! I'd much rather have it on my dog than on my walls!!

Oh Max, you're making your mama turn grey!!

NOW THAT IS A GOOD DOGGY

Two things that might work. I was talking with a women that worked in a daycare for awhile that swears Shaving Cream will remove marker from anything. I haven't tried it myself... she may have been playing mind games with me. The other one is toothpaste. I have used this on fur and hides but not while the owner was alive.

I am dying over here at my desk at work. Along with me so are 4 other co workers laughing. I am sorry but it's not what I expected to read or find where the marker ended up at! lol

I heard the same about the shaving cream!

LMAO!!!!!

Hydrogen peroxide, it's what dog shows and groomers use to amek a doggy nice and white. I found it does work at getting them very white when Lucy got skunked and I had to use peroxide to get out the smell and her white fur was a beautiful color when I was done,LOL!

Randy says he would throw away all markers and never buy one again if he was you!

Good Luck!

thanks for the laugh!! I needed that today!

I think it's time to throw away all your markers and get the crayola ones that only color on certain paper. Otherwise, we're going to take bets on what he'll color next!

I hope you let Max know that it wasn't good to draw on the dog, I just don't know how you did it keeping a straight face. :)

Amodex Ink and Stain remover-it is a non toxic remover and it really worked for me. Here's a link:

three ideas that are harmless. toothpaste will hurt and you don't want anything that will absorb through the skin.

1 lanolin. this may help lift the drier skin cells and help 'suck' some of the pigment out.
2. human shampoo, especially dandruff. it works wonders to remove stains from your hands.
3. hydrogen peroxide, to help with stains on my dog, i put it in a spray bottle and after the shampoo and rinse i spray the dog and then dry her. the peroxide will continue to whiten the dog as it dries.

i think washing every 2 weeks with human shampoo and hydrogen peroxide may help. but it will still take a few months.

Is Max a fan of George Rodrigue???

That is so funny. I'd just let it grow out naturally.

i think the snouter will be fine like that. your dog is very cute. (is it bad that i'm more attracted to pets than human kids?) as long as you love it/him/her and pet it and stuff and don't laugh at it too much, you won't need to really take any real proactive steps unless you want to discourage any further use of the dog as a canvas!

Wow this is one of the funniest things ever!

Try rubbing alcohol, it works to remove permanent marker from hard surfaces.

Pond's Cold Cream! This is what my sister and I used when one of our permanent markers leaked. Good luck (even though doggy looks pretty cute with blue marks).

I was thinking... why don't you call the vet and ask for any suggestions that won't harm the dog. If nothing else, you'll give them a good laugh for the day!

Oh just let the dog shed it out. It's not worth the bother of buying anything to remove it unless you see evidence of skin irritation.

I was painting the walls once and my dog got out of his make-shift pen, and rubbed against the wall. My first reaction was to man-handle him out of the way, but of course I had paint on my hands too. (water based)

I just wiped it up as best as I could with a wet cloth and let him shed out the rest. (making sure he didn't lick it while it was drying)

My point is, this crap happens all the time, and it's astonishing how fast they shed it off.

hairspray gets permanent marker off of things, i would think if you used it, you could wash it off right away.

Thanks for the laugh! It reminds me of when my sister's white fluffy dog got hold of a green marker and he had green patches all over himself.

Rubbing alcohol removes permanent marker from other surfaces, but if it doesn't work on dog fur my second guess would be to try an oil - even olive oil. Or you could just let the dog keep his street cred.

You seriously need to write a book entitled, "Maxwell did it again!" I'd buy it..

Rubbing alcohol gets permanent marker off anything but it might be a bit harsh for your doggy's skin. Good luck!

go to the store and get the whiting shampoo for older gray haired women its normally purple and in a clear or white bottle i use it on my horses when I show them it makes them really white and smell good but then again the battle scars are cute on him.

OMGosh!!! Too funny! You have a budding Artist for sure! I say let it grow out. I would not want to risk using any chemicals that could harm the dog or cause skin irratation!

Happy New Year & Artful Blessings (especially to Max),

My husband colored on his mom's brand new couch with permanent marker when he was a kid. She had her husband get bottles of lemon extract and was able to save her couch. I once marked on my shirt with permanent marker and tried the lemon extract trick and it worked! Good luck!! :)

so... i found your blog b/c i was looking for a solution for the same problem... my puppy (only 8 weeks old) found a blue permanent marker... and got it all down his legs and ears... and then my husband thought it was funny (i'm married to a 2 year old haha) to draw a "petey" circle around his eye...like on little rascals.. so... i have to find something that's super easy on the puppy since it's on his face...did you ever find anything that worked?
